Rejoice in the Lord, not in your flesh! Be on guard against those who place their confidence in the things of the world. Paul had every reason to place such confidence in himself, but he called it all a loss. The only way to gain in this life is to lose is it all to Jesus. Compared to Jesus, all things are garbage. The goal is to know Christ, which is to be found in him and, therefore, to have a righteousness that has been gifted to you. This is the only path to both temporary and eternal joy. What do you count as gain that isn’t found in Christ?
