After graduating with his Masters of Divinity in 2008, Pastor Bill Laky and his wife, Gina, moved overseas. They served in Spain for a year, and then came back to the States with the intention of going to Southeast Asia to help meet the physical needs of the native people, while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. However, while they were in the application process, they felt like God was telling them to open their eyes to the physical and spiritual needs of their own community in and around Cape May, New Jersey.
Though Bill and Gina knew nothing about church planting, and had never worked in a church environment before, they were convinced that they could use the same methods and philosophies used in overseas missions in their own backyard. They felt like God was telling them to start a church and so Revolve was born!
Wanting to still be part of something bigger than themselves, but not interested in joining a denomination, Revolve Church applied to the Acts 29 Network - a diverse, global family of church-planting churches. That was March 2012, and God continues to be faithful to this day!
“We exist to glorify God by making disciples who make disciples of all nations.”
Revolve may look different than other churches you have heard of or attended in the past. That’s because, at Revolve, we don’t think "the church" is a building or an event, but a group of people following God and living a life that revolves around Jesus.
We intentionally strive to be light on events and programs because Christianity is not a program, but a way of life. Rather than hosting a variety of events at our church throughout the week, we prefer that you are involved in the world around you, bringing Christ with you as you go. We call this decentralized ministry, and it is a core driving value at Revolve.
What’s our dream? That the people of Revolve would be a family of missionaries, who gather together to celebrate what God is doing and to be equipped, in order to then scatter and live a missionary lifestyle - making disciples where they live, learn, work and play.
We didn’t make this video, but it very appropriately summarizes our thoughts. Take two minutes to watch.
Everything we do as a church is intentionally designed to help you live out your faith. We want you to Hear the Good News through solid biblical teaching, Embrace the Good News through our Discipleship Groups, and then Live the Good News at Revolve, locally and to the ends of the earth.
