In Jesus' Good Shepherd discourse, he shows how he stands in stark contrast to all the other leaders and mediators who came before him. While the leadership of Israel had failed to represent the needs of God and man, he will succeed. He will bring the lost sheep back into the sheepfold of the presence of God.
