In this story, Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath. Spiritually, this reveals that he, as God, can give us spiritual healing so that we can enter into God’s rest. Religious people, however, reject what Jesus has to offer. They prefer doing it on their own. They want rules, not grace. They want lists, not mercy. They reject Jesus, and - in so doing - reject God.
