In a parable that initially seems perplexing, Jesus commends an unrighteous steward for his shifty and shrewd behavior related to earth’s temporal provisions. Jesus then said that his followers should imitate his shrewdness, but direct it to the advancement of heaven and eternal provisions. Jesus teaches that the godly steward accomplishes this by investing our resources in kingdom enterprises thereby making “friends“ to welcome us in heaven!
