A Call to God's Mission

April 11, 2021 Speaker: Christian Vance Series: Stand Alone Sermons

Passage: Luke 9:57–62, Luke 12:15–21

When Jesus said to his disciples "follow me" it was not an invitation to pray a prayer to be saved. The initial invitation from Jesus was to lay down your life for the sake of the Gospel. To abandon the idols of safety and security so that the Good News is propelled to the ends of the earth. Today in 2021, there are currently 3 billion people around the globe who have little to no knowledge of Jesus and how they can have eternal salvation.

Discussion questions

  • What are ways that we as believers, choose comfort instead of a cross?
  • Are there specific areas in your life where you find more security in worldly things (careers, money, materialism) than finding it in Jesus?
