1 Peter 3:1-7

March 14, 2021 Speaker: Dave Walker Series: 1 & 2 Peter: Unshakeable Hope

Passage: 1 Peter 3:1–7, Philippians 2:5–9, Matthew 20:25–28, Ephesians 5:25–33

The roles of headship and submission inside the family have been grossly misunderstood and abused throughout human history; however, when properly lived out through a deeper understanding of the gospel, they give us a joyful glimpse into the beauty of the trinity and therefore a deeper understanding of God.

Discussion Questions

  1. What was the hardest thing for you to hear today and why?
  2. How can you demonstrate this dynamic of headship and submission as one of freedom and joy rather than the archaic and oppressive model that the world views?
  3. If you are married, how are you encouraging your spouse to move into the godly role of either servant-leadership or submission, regardless of if they “deserve” it? If you are single (or married), are you giving and pursuing Christ more than earthly relationships and submitting to him as Lord?
