The book of Kings is an important piece of the greater body of the Old Testament. It not only gives us the framework to understand the prophets, but also provides us with real life examples of what happens when we live outside God's reign in our lives. Most importantly, however, it shows us that we are all truly waiting for the great king, the king of kings, to come and restore his kingdom. 1 and 2 Kings create this tension within our hearts as we eagerly await the return of King Jesus.
