If you're looking to start this new year fresh, ready to commit or recommit to reading your Bible we have a few plans to recommend. In 2020, The Gospel Coalition did a “Read the Bible” initiative that went through the Scottish preacher Robert Murray M’Cheyne's Bible Reading Plan.

The Gospel Coalition partnered with Crossway in 2021 to launch Read the Bible in 2021. The goal was to help individuals and churches read God’s Word faithfully through the year.  These plans are relevant and applicable in any year- if you're looking for a place to start here are some options:

1 Year Plan

The plan is based on the M’Cheyne reading system, featuring four different readings for use in both group and personal devotions. Each day has two passages from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and one from either the Psalms or the Gospels. In one year, you read the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice.  The 1 year plan consists of 4-6 chapters of reading per day.

2 Year Plan

If you're just starting to dive into the Bible or trying to develop a consistent Bible reading habit for the first time, there's also a 2 year option organized by Riverside Church.  The 2 year option has a daily committment to 2-3 chapters per day.

Volume One reads Genesis through 2 Chronicles, the New Testament and Psalms in one year.

Volume Two reads Ezra through Malachi, the New Testament and Psalms in one year.

If that still seems daunting, then grab the PDF link above from the 1 year plan and use only the 4th column which will take you through the New Testament and Psalms in a year.

If you've spent any time with us at Revolve you know we use the DBS Method for reading the Bible.  DBS works great in your daily quiet times or with others, and if you're not sure where to start, these reading plans can help!

** We would like to thank The Gospel Coalition, Crossway and Riverside Church for these plans**
