Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
A "catechism" is simply a summary of Biblical truths that are a part of the Christian faith. Each of these truths is drawn from scriptures found in the Holy Bible and they shape what we believe as followers of Christ.
If you've never explored catechisms of the Christian faith, we invite you to do so here. We use the New City Catechism which is comprised of 52 questions and answers, so you can easily explore and study a topic every week for a year. The topics are broken into three parts:
PART 1: God, creation and fall, law (twenty questions)
PART 2: Christ, redemption, grace (fifteen questions)
PART 3: Spirit, restoration, growing in grace (seventeen questions)
The questions you can explore include topics such as: What is God? What is sin? Why was it necessary for Christ, the Redeemer, to die? What is prayer?
With each question you will have the opportunity to read the Q&A, corresponding scriptures, a commentary and prayer response. You can even turn on Children's Mode and it will include a song. And these 52 questions are available on the New City Catechism web app or in a mobile app you can put right on your phone.
